This is a Black Gloss Finished Dell Vostro 200 corporate desktop, it looks and runs like a dream. It is in near mint condition, with one small scratch in the back nobody will ever see anyway. The system comes equipped with a dual core Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of Ram, and is also future proof and can be upgraded to any socket 775 quad-core processor and up to 8GB of Memory. With that kind of upgradeability I think it is fair to say you could run this system for foreseeable future without having to buy a new machine. I speculate that it will be 10 years or more before any games or other software will need more than 4 cores and 8GB of memory. The Intel Core 2 Duo Processor that is in the machine has more than enough power for your multimedia and multitasking needs. I have been able to watch streaming 1080p from YouTube as well as streaming h.264 Divx formats without an issue, not one bit of lag or buffering, There is a hidden compartment in the front with a sliding door that opens up to reveal 4 USB 2.0 ports as well as a firewire port and microphone and headphone jacks. The system is also equipped with a DVD burner and X to DVD Software. The X to DVD Software is revolutionary, it takes all your video files and re-encodes them to a format any dvd player can play and burn them to a DVD. You just add your files to the program, put your dvd in the tray and push a button and it spits out a DVD that will pay on any player.. All system maintenance is automated on this machine; I have configured the machine to do all of its windows updates, hard drive defragmentation virus scanning and definition downloading and every time the system boots it will clean up after its self. You might already know if you have been a longtime windows user that windows is very messy and loves to litter your hard drive full of junk in numerous folder across your hard drive. At every boot the system will clean its own Temporary files, history, cookies, download history, form history of all installed web browsers as well as windows temp directory, recycling bin, recent document history, log files ect. The unit is running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, I installed and updated all of the drivers, I also installed all of software dependencies and runtime environments needed to ensure proper operation of today's most cutting edge software and web 2.0 enabled websites. Things like, but not limited to (because i could go on all day). Flash, Java, E-book reader, The .Net Frameworks 1, 2 and 3.5, Microsoft Visual C++ runtime files ect. I know my stuff, and I take the time to do everything the right way. When you get a machine from me everything will just work. No downloading codecs, installing antivirus ect. All you have to worry about is using your computer. With Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Student Companion software this will be a great system for either a student or a serious professional. The Microsoft Office suite needs no introduction, but you may not have heard of the Microsoft Student software bundle. The Microsoft Student bundle is revolutionary software empower you with the ability to make professional looking work from day one. The templates and wizards that are included with Microsoft Student enable you to take advantage of technology that enhances your productivity as well as quality of your work. In an age where kids get judged on things like punctuation, spelling, and proper format. I speculate this software could even bring a child's grades up a bit by making their work look more polished that way your kid gets graded on what the know and won't get lower grades for things as small as a spelling or punctuation error they may have overlooked.
